Since its establishment in 2012, The Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) has recognized a variety of blogs across the country for the work they put out there in informing the masses about trends in fashion, tech, agriculture, politics, food and travel, among other categories.

In this year’s campaign, the association has welcomed a new technology sponsor: Microsoft. The American technology giant whose regional office for East and Southern Africa is in Nairobi, Kenya, has come onboard to sponsor the slot that Techweez is on the run for (you can vote for us here).

Microsoft is delighted to be part of this year’s BAKE awards. In a world being transformed by technology every day, it pleases us to see more people embracing blogging to inform and educate customers on the latest business, technology solutions as well as trends,” remarked Sebuh Haileleul, Microsoft General Manager for East Africa.

The competition was launched on January 11, 2018, when the association began accepting applications for its comprehensive array of categories. After a thorough vetting process was done by a panel of judges, 5 blogs in each category made a cut for the last stage. The voting process is ongoing until the end of the month (April 30).

Microsoft continues to push its agenda its tech agenda in the local scene by developing, manufacturing and offering licenses for computer software, as well as consumer electronics, among other services.

A few months ago, we had a chance to witness what the corporation has done in Central Kenya with Mawingu, where the company is part of a program that offers affordable internet to the locals using TV whitespaces.

Also, Microsoft just concluded the application process of the Imagine X Cup that targets to instill key skills for students in Artificial Intelligence (AI) that continues to see notable popularity Azure Intelligence tools, Big Data for analytics and Mixed Reality for better use of Windows Mixed Reality services such as HoloLens, AR, and VR.

“As we work towards empowering every person and every organization to achieve more, access to information plays a vital role on the journey towards ensuring that more and more people are well informed and the power of technology provides that vital access to this content,” concluded Mr. Sebuh.
