The Galaxy J1 is Samsung’s best-selling entry-level smartphone thanks mostly to its pricing. The device is now a year old since it was launched in January last year. As such, it is not surprising that the device is primed to get a successor anytime soon and images of that successor just got spilled on Twitter.

Finer details like the exact specifications are still scarce at this moment but we expect the device to pack a 4.5-inch 480 x 800 pixel resolution display, a bump from the 4.3-inch display on the 2015 J1. A quad-core Exynos 3457 processor, 1 GB RAM and Android 5.1 Lollipop are also expected on board. Since the J1 had a 4G variant, the same is expected this year.

Riding on the Galaxy J1’s popularity, Samsung has since released several devices in order to address several customer needs along the way. These include the Galaxy J1 Ace and the Galaxy J1 mini both of which have several specifications superior to their older sibling.

Another device in the Galaxy J family, the Galaxy J5 (2016), is already under testing in India and could be released soon.
