If you’re like most of WhatsApp’s 900 million monthly users then you must be getting lots of messages daily. Some important like say from your work group and some not so important like those from that girl you met at a random event over the weekend. In the process you end up having too much to digest and some important messages may be overlooked or lost in the process. Seemingly, WhatsApp has been working to address the issue and update 2.12.338 already adds the ability to star messages.
The star feature in WhatsApp works pretty much like the ‘Favourite’ button on Twitter. Tapping and holding onto any message in a conversation presents a new option alongside the normal ones like detail, delete, copy and share. That new option is indicated quite appropriately by a star. Clicking on it results in a message being included in a special Starred Messages tab that can be accessed any time through the menu on the chat page.
As is usually the case with most of the new WhatsApp features we usually highlight here, the new update can only be sideloaded for now from safe third party sources like APKMirror or directly from the WhatsApp website. It may be a few weeks before it starts rolling out to anyone via the Google Play Store.
