Cubot Note S is Getting Android Nougat Update Very Soon

1

As the rest of the world is celebrating the official unveiling of Android 8.0 Oreo, Cubot Note S also have a reason to celebrate. The device which was released a year and a half ago running on Android Lollipop is scheduled to get updated to Android Nougat.

Users of the Cubot Note S were updated to Android Marshmallow, although it was not an OTA (over-the-air) update, the users were requested to visit Cubot service centres to get their devices updated – a tedious process that may have locked many users out of getting the update.

Regarding the Nougat update, we have information that Cubot is currently testing the software and plans are underway to avail it to the masses in early September. A Cubot representative mentioned that the firmware will be uploaded on Cubot’s forums but there is no indication whether users will get an OTA update of the same.

It is encouraging to see a company like Cubot that many would regard as “small” making strides to update their flagship devices. On that note of flagships, Cubot X18 is one to watch.

The X18 comes with a 5.7-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio that takes cues from the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6. Other features of the X18 include a 16MP camera, 13MP selfie shooter, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, fingerprint reader, 3200mAh battery, Android Nougat and is powered by a MediaTek MT6737T processor. The most unbelievable part? It is expected to retail at $160 (Ksh.16,500). Cubot, where’s my review unit? 🙂
