Mobile Search and Google Maps Gain Q&A Feature for Business Listings and Places

1

In the coming days, users and serial globetrotters will be able to get their queries answered within local business listings on mobile search and Google Maps. This feature was made official today and will be rolled out in Google Maps for Android and mobile search.

Oftentimes, travelers ask themselves multiple questions when they want to visit a place. For instance, those who have never been to Mombasa including yours truly would want to know if it is socially acceptable to go to the beach at 5 AM in the morning without being condemned by our judgmental folk on Twitter. Maps and Search will be avail this option where users will get answers they need, and even answer other people’s queries about places you are familiar with.

According to a blog post published by Google, the internet company states, “To ask or answer a question—or read the existing questions and answers about a place—simply search for the location on Google Maps or Search and open the local business listing. Then scroll down to the “Question & answers” section where you can add a question, answer someone else’s question, or upvote informative ones by tapping the thumbs up icon. Upvoted questions and answers will appear toward the top of the section so that the most helpful content is most accessible.”

Business owners will have the ability to tailor questions and answers to have the most relevant and accurate information, in addition to adding frequently asked questions.

Google will notify people and businesses that are well-versed about certain questions and places. In a similar fashion, users will be notified when their questions are attended to.

Admittedly, this Q&A feature will augment other offerings within local business listings with information that people need to make a decision and explore the world around them.
