OPPO F3 Launch

OPPO F3 LaunchThe OPPO F3 which comes with a dual selfie camera composed of a 16 MP f/2.0 lens and a 120-degree wide-angle 8 MP lens has officially been launched in the Kenyan market.

The OPPO F3 joins the increasing number of smartphones that are selfie-focused in the Kenyan market. We saw the dual selfie camera setup on the Infinix S2 Pro and the Tecno Camon CX and Itel S31 all launched bragging about their selfie prowess.

The device will retail at Ksh. 33,000 a far cry compared to the competition but OPPO will tell you that what you get with the F3 you will not get anywhere else.

A statement that holds some water, considering the F3 comes with 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, a 5.5-inch full HD display protected by Gorilla Glass 5, a fingerprint reader and a 3200mAh battery. However, running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and powered by a mid-range MediaTek processor don’t really help the statement hold true.

When asked about an update to Android Nougat, Andy Shi, Brand Director, OPPO Africa and MEA. said, “OPPO phones run on Color OS that is an overlay on Android, and we want to ensure that the experience on the latest Android version is good, so the update is coming.”

OPPO F3

There’s no clear timeline for Nougat, So your guess is as good as mine, but let’s be patient.

Those who would be more interested in the slightly larger (with a better main camera, Snapdragon 653 processor and a larger 4,000mAh battery) OPPO F3 Plus will be disappointed to know that it is not making its way to the Kenyan market officially. Why you ask? “Because we know the Kenyan market and we think the F3 is the better device for Kenya,” says OPPO.

Currently, you can only get the OPPO F3 by pre-ordering between 16th and 22nd May, 2017 or you could just wait until May 25th, 2017 and buy the device.
