With its latest iPhones, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple introduced a new colour option that was exclusive only to those willing to pay more for a device with higher storage capacity, Jet Black. The new colour option turned out to be a hit with consumers just as other colour options the company had introduced to the iPhone in previous years, Space Gray and Rose Gold, had.
This even without factoring in the prior warning the company had given customers about the Jet Black iPhone 7 being prone to getting smudges all over and not entertaining even the remotest of scratches.
Now there is talk of Apple wanting to do the same again only that this time round things will be a bit lighter. A Jet White iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus anyone?
Japanese blog Mac Otakara, citing unnamed Apple suppliers, says that a “pure white” variant of the iPhone 7 may be on its way. It is not immediately clear if the said iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Jet White model will also be available in lower storage configuration (32GB).
While Apple does not have such a history of introducing new colour options for devices mid-cycle as other companies like Samsung (and recently Huawei too) do, this has been a year of firsts for the Cupertino-based smartphone giant and we may not be surprised if it happens. But there’s always a “but” in everything and only time will tell.
