Ringier Africa and One Africa Media are set to merge their operations thereby creating a joint venture set to be Africa’s largest classified group. The new entity created will be referred to as Ringier Africa Group. Ringier will bring its brands including Expat-Dakar, Zoom Tanzania & Pigia Me. One Africa brands include Jobberman, Brighter Monday, Cheki, BuyRent Kenya & PrivateProperty Nigeria. The existing shareholders of the company will then invest into the new firm in a bid to ensure the companies.
Ringier One Africa Media will then compete with firms such as Naspers that runs Olx and Property24 as well as Rocket Internet’s Lamudi, Carmudi and EverJobs. The new venture will target strategic areas on the African continent which it has segmented into Nigeria & Ghana in English-speaking West Africa; Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda in East Africa; and Senegal in French-speaking West Africa. One Africa Media is backed by US-based Tiger Global Management an early investor in technology companies such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Zynga and SEEK, a leading employment classifieds group based out of Australia. Ringier Africa on the other hand brings extensive marketing and distribution capabilities with its knowledge of horizontal classifieds. Ringier Africa also runs Nigerian news platforms Pulse.
