Xiaomi is planning to release its first ever smartwatch targeted at the adult population. Liu De, co-founder and Vice President at Xiaomi is reported to have confirmed this at a conference in China’s capital, Beijing.

The Chinese device maker already has a $46 smartwatch in the market but that one is meant for kids. Its other wearable product, the Mi Band, is targeted at the adult population and has been doing well in the market thanks to its low $15 pricing.

Xiaomi is holding an event on May 10 where it is expected to unveil a 6.4-inch smartphone, the Max. Though unconfirmed, the company is also expected to unveil the second generation Mi Band. The Xiaomi smartwatch won’t make it to the launch. The device is not expected to be launched till later in the second half of the year. Xiaomi is also expected to showcase a new version (8) of its customized software, MIUI, at the event.
