iPhone 6Sometime back we got wind of information that Airtel will be selling the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus in Kenya. Now the mobile carrier confirms that they will be selling the device come November. This is slightly over two weeks since the iPhone was launched globally in Cupertino.

From November 14th 2014 consumers will be able to buy the device which is expected to come at a starting price point of Kshs 100,000 for the 16Gb iPhone 6 model at Airtel stores. Airtel does not indicate that they will be exclusive though, they just made the announcement stating that the device will be available at all their stores countrywide.

Mobile carriers love iPhone users as they generally use up more data than their Android and Windows Phone counterparts, something which is echoed by Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi. “From a business perspective, smart phone penetration is linked to strong data growth. This is demonstrated through internal data which shows that iPhone smartphones generate more data than feature phones,” said Youssefi.

Will you be buying an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 plus from Airtel when it becomes available? Tell us in the comments.
