Users of file sharing service Dropbox can now add comments to files using a new feature and also have conversations on the side pane of the files. The feature was previously available for Dropbox business customers also lets multiple people leave feedback and mentions for other users on the document itself.
Users can invite people without Dropbox accounts to open files and read the comments but they will need to sign up to add their comments. The users without the Dropbox account will receive the notification via email. A user can also mute conversations on certain documents so they no longer receive notifications on conversations on those documents.
The feature currently works on the desktop site but with the functionality for the mobile app coming soon. Last year Dropbox acquired email service Mailbox in a bid to offer a cloud-centric service providing company.
