Samsung Galaxy S III

Despite getting consistent reports from carriers and through leaks that the Galaxy S III is among the devices Samsung plans to upgrade to the latest Android version, 4.4.2 KitKat, there has always been that shadow of doubt in us. If you haboured any doubts then news that Samsung Arabia has unofficially confirmed the update should you warm you up a little.

Through its Facebook page in a response to a question raised by a Galaxy S III user, Samsung Arabia has confirmed that the Galaxy S III will indeed be getting the update later this month (March). Save for the skeptical amongst us, this is not new since Samsung did the same with the good old Galaxy S II and the first generation Galaxy Note; supporting them fully for two years with updates from Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread through to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Samsung may be slow in its update rollout schedules thanks to the huge number of flagship devices it has to update at any given time but unlike others, it usually delivers.

If what Samsung Arabia is telling us is true then we should start seeing Galaxy S III KitKat firmwares leak soon.
