HP Firmware Updates Now Limited to Enterprise Machines Under Warranty


HP has announced that effective February 19, 2014, firmware updates will provided through the HP Support Center only to customers with a valid warranty, Care Pack Service or support agreement.

The decision aligns with industry best practices and HP cites it as the right decision for customers and partners who have chosen to maximize and protect their IT investments.

Customers under warranty or support coverage will not be required to pay for firmware access, for those not covered by warranty HP provides a way to obtain firmware access through purchasing extended coverage.
