GotvIn a statement sent in to the press, Kenya’s Multichoice has wanted to disassociate itself from the activities of three of Kenyan media houses in the recent hours as from last night. The three media houses NTV, KTN and Citizen TV lost an appeal to postpone the Digital Migration which was scheduled for 23rd of December following a recent postponement from a previous deadline of 13th December.

This would see the switch off of analogue channels in favour of more productive digital channels. The three media houses who are unclear as to what part of their grievances with the Digital Migration wasn’t addressed by the High Court when their case was dismissed claim that they had no option but to switch off airing their channels as they await the appeal through their lawyers.

Digital Migration has already taken effect and since the three are missing on air, Multichoice which is a PayTV provider seeks to absolve itself of any blame as a result of the three missing channels in their product offerings. See below the statement from Multichoice Kenya:

24 December 2013…. Following the High Court ruling, MultiChoice through its digital terrestrial transmission and satellite transmission brands, GOtv & DStv respectively, is geared up to assist the Kenyan Government with the digital migration which has been scheduled to start in Nairobi immediately.

Regrettably, three Free-to-Air Stations namely NTV, Citizen & KTN yesterday switched off their signals countrywide, including from our platforms – GOtv and DStv.

“We would like assure all MultiChoice subscribers that all our products are digital and we are working with the FTA channels to restore the services.  However, currently this matter is beyond our control,” said MultiChoice Kenya General Manager, Danny Mucira.

GOtv offers affordable decoders which provide an immediate solution to the analogue switch off, plus GOtv subscribers will also receive a two month trial of the fantastic GOtv Plus bouquet.

“GOtv is the best available option for digital migration in the market.” said GOtv General Manager, Felix Kyengo.

GOtv Plus offers entertainment, news and sport for the whole family and is guaranteed to ensure that subscribers will have a great festive seasons’ viewing and avoid the possibility of finding themselves faced with blank television screen.
