The HTC Droid DNA (US) also going by the name HTC Butterfly J in Japan and HTC Butterfly globally was a hit towards the end of 2012 and serve to enhance HTC’s image as a premium device maker and built up the hype that surrounded the launch of the then rumoured HTC M7 which later came out as the HTC One. Similarly, this year HTC is geared towards getting the same treatment. A successor of the HTC Butterfly, the Butterfly II, seems to be in the works and could be debuting before the year wraps, in the next few days.
Here are images obtained as seen on several Chinese forums showing the HTC Butterfly’s front panel:
The HTC Butterfly II’s leaked front panel shows us a few details about the device also rumoured to pack a Snapdragon 800 SoC and a 5.2 inch 1080p display. For starters there’s what seems to be a BoomSound speaker slot at the bottom of the front panel and there’s also what appears to be just two capacitive buttons instead of the traditional three that are found in other HTC Butterfly devices like the Butterfly and the Butterfly S.
The HTC Butterfly II is expected to be HTC’s first full waterproof device and since the first Butterfly device was released to the Japanese market before being availed anywhere else, it is not surprising to see HTC taking the water-proof route that Sony has become popular for. Chances are that we might see the Butterfly II get announced alongside the long time rumoured HTC phablet, the One Max, sometime this month.
