Huawei today in London have unveiled the Ascend P6. The Ascend P6, as expected, is quite thin and beautiful. It’s quite anorexic at 6.18mm of unibody metallic body. The display is a 4.7 inch HD 720p with “Magic Touch”that promises use with gloves and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor.
No info about on-board RAM is available and we will update you as the event starts in London. The device runs Android 4.2.2 with Huawei’s Emotion UI on-board. It weighs 120 grams with a 2000 mAh battery to power it.
The rear camera is 8MP with LED flash while the front camera is a whopping 5MP, this is the highest so far in the industry for a front camera. So those self shots and duck-faces will come out more clearer.
The Ascend P6 comes in three colours, black, white, pink with matching cases and will be available in China within June and Western Europe countries from July through mobile carriers and retailers Vodafone, Telefonica, Orange, H3G, O2, Carphone Warehouse, TalkTalk, Media Markr &Saturn, TIM and on Amazon. No price details indicated however.
[UPDATE 1 ] The Ascend P6 has 2GB RAM as confirmed at the launch.
[UPDATE 2 ] Ascend P6 will be available in 19 countries initially and roll out to over 100 countries later, price is at 449 Euro ( USD 601, Kshs 51,500).
Why does everyone insist on a custom UI? Have you tried this emotion UI?
Somehow I wish this would come with an option for stock Android, this is one phone I would sure root and put custom ROM.
But Huaweis normally (ok for the last one year) come with Emotion UI not as a fixed interface like the other custom skins but more like a launcher whereby you have a choice between 3 variations of the Emotion UI and a stock Android option. That was the case with Emotion UI v 1.0. I hope it is still the case with this second version.
Now I know, the Huawei Android Phones I have used came with carrier skinned UI by Safaricom and Orange. I never used the Emotion UI Huaweis.
Simple…just download the UI and flash it over the current UI. But custom ROM if any would definitely be the best option
