Since Silicon Valley happened, we have always associated investment pitches and startup funding with the ICT industry. Enter BFMA 2013 (Broadcast Film and Music Awards 2013) and we have recipe for a rich Creatives Arts culture to brew right here within Nairobi, Kenya. BFMA 2013 happens at the KICC on the 26th and 27th of June courtesy of AITEC Africa and FilmBiz Africa who are co-hosting the event at Kenya’s International Conference Centre.
Africa Media Business Exchange will take production or market development ideas pitches from the creative arts industry in Africa for potential investors.
“We had very positive feedback on last year’s AMBE, with several deals confirmed following the event. This year we anticipate even more investment outcomes, said Chiaka Orjiako, editor FimBiz Africa.
“This year, in partnership with Growth Africa, we will be running mentoring sessions with the start-ups on the first day of the conference to help them prepare their business plans and their pitches, which will all take place on the second day of the conference. In addition, we are expanding the scope of the Exchange to include script writers who want to pitch their story ideas to producers.”
Sean Moroney, Chairman of AITEC Africa, welcomed the opportunity to work with FilmBiz Africa again in hosting AMBE at BFMA. “The Exchange is a practical business platform to accelerate the growth of the continent’s emerging creative content industry, showcasing investment opportunities that would not otherwise attract investor attention. Last year there were three investment deals confirmed following the Exchange. This year we hope to at least double that level of success stories.”
