Yahoo Avatars

Yahoo will be soon making dinosaurs of several products under CEO Marissa Meyer’s watch according to Reuters. Yahoo says on their blog that they will be doing product line-up review and get rid of products that in their opinion are not really valuable anymore. Marissa Meyer is a former Google employee and “Spring Cleans” are a common thing in Google where they take down products that are almost white elephants.
Top among the Yahoo products being shut down is Blackberry App for Yahoo. This will no-longer be available for use from April 1st. They wont even support existing installations. Yahoo avatars, used for customizing visual characters in Yahoo messenger will also go down in an apps shut-down that will see Yahoo trim apps from 75 to between 12 to 15 manageable apps. Users of Yahoo Avatars are asked to download them and re-upload them to their profiles. Yahoo App Search, Yahoo Sports IQ, Yahoo Message Board Website and Yahoo Updates API will also face the axe.
