Samsung intends to launch an Engineering Academy at PC Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute by mid next year, this will be the country’s first. The facility will aim to address technical and engineering skills shortage in Kenya. Seems Samsung is edging closer and closer to the devs, one of the practices that will make it a success in the local scene. We have seen them working on a partnership with iHub and also plans are underway for a Solar powered internet school, whose pilot is already working in South Africa.
Samsung has already donated 20 Samsung Laptops to the institution to assist them in the integration of ICTs use in teaching vocational courses and other technical courses and Provide staff with tool for conducting research and preparing teaching materials.
Students who graduate from the Academy will have a chance to compete for an internship opportunity at one of Samsung’s service centres where they will put the skills learned at the Academy to practical use for Samsung customers. Samsung Electronics Engineering Academy in South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria are part of the company’s broader goal to develop 10 000 Electronics Engineers across the continent by 2015.
