Samsung has broken the in-house ice by announcing their first windows 7.5 mango phone, the Samsung Omnia W. The phone launched with Super AMOLED and a 1.4 GHz processor comes with a 3.7” WVGA(800X480) display. The camera is 5 megapixels autofocus with LED flash and features a front camera too. Phone memory is 512MB ram and internal memory is 8GB, no mention however, of expandable memory.
The phone has fast data with upto 14.4 Mbps, cant beat the Galaxy S 2 which does 21Mbps though. The web browser, Internet Explorer 9 has been integrated with Bing search. Mango’s unique and intuitive user interface lays out applications in mosaic ‘Live Tiles’ which flow and move on the screen in response to the users touch. The interface provides the benefits of a user environment usually associated with a larger display within the portability of a smartphone screen, delivering a flexible and intuitive experience.
Samsung Omnia W has six specialized Microsoft Apps, People hub, office hub, pictures hub, music hub, video hub and Game hub. The people hub is integrated with social networking, eg Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.Office hub gives access to Windows Live Sky Drive, which provides 25GB of free storage and allows documents and media files to be easily stored and accessed anywhere. Users can also create and edit documents through mobile versions of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint, as well as utilize One Note, a note-taking platform allowing the easy sharing and storage of voice memos, images and text-based notes.
The Omnia W will be available in stores starting with Italy from end-October and gradually rolled to globally including Europe, CIS, Latin America, Africa, South East and South West Asia.
