In less than 10 days, the sixth edition on Kenya International Film Festival will close the submission of entries by film makers worldwide. The event is set to happen on October 21st to 31st later in the year.According to the festival director, Charles Asiba, filmmakers have up to the end of this month to submit their entries.
The theme of this year’s festival which will be held in Nairobi is “Leadership – the next generation”.
In line with its unique tradition, there will be screenings in select venues in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.
Said Asiba: “The Kenya International Film Festival is a unique one. We are the only festival which has screenings in multiple towns. Last year we experimented with screenings in Mombasa and Kisumu and we were pleasantly surprised by the success of this. We have therefore decided that for the first time the festival will also have screenings in Eldoret and Nakuru.”
He added: “We want to expose as many Kenyans as possible to films from all over the world. We want them to see what other filmmakers are doing and also just entertain Kenyans and expose them to what other people are going through around the world because we believe that film is a reflection of a people and their current or past circumstances.”
The ten day film bonanza has already attracted a record 250 films from 35 countries. This year the festival is expected to screen a total of 365 films from over 50 countries.The Kenya international Film Festival commonly known as KIFF is an event that celebrates the achievements of filmmakers worldwide.
